Just returned from a good week in Ottawa. Went to the career fair, found a list of companies still hiring in the Ottawa area, and of course, hung out plenty w/ dEb. I've decided that I'm now referring to my time between school and the next job as my sabbatical :) On that note, I've been feeling that I haven't really been taking advantage of my free time. Sure, I've been applying to all sorts of jobs and chasing down leads, but other than that I haven't been up to much -- especially recently during the nice summer days . . . I'd really like to start work on another low-rider bicycle, but there's a tricky matter of those springer forks . . .

It's been a mixed week. I met w/ the previously discussed director on Monday, about a position he's currently in the process of setting up. My interviewer from last week called me up on Tuesday, asking me for references, so that lead is promising as well. Despite this, I've been pretty restless all the same; the unemployed schtick is gettting a little old.

There's a career fair in Ottawa this coming week, though, so I'm planning another visit :)

Whew . . . It's been a LONG weekend.

It all started on Thursday, w/ my convocation. At the outset of the day, I wasn't all that excited: picking up my diploma seemed like just another obligation. After all, I considered myself done a good few weeks ago w/ the writing of my last exam. However, it all hit me during the procession into the theatre, when we (the graduants) were suddenly the focus of a attention. A sea of waving hands and flashing cameras of the families in attendance greeted us -- a somewhat disorienting experience! The ceremony itself was well planned out and motivating, albeit w/ a corporate/commercial tinge. Obtaining my diploma did prove a fulfilling endeavour with a satisfying sense of closeur . . .

Directly after the ceremony I met w/ my family and dEb (who came down for the event) in the quad, where we mingled and snacked on free munchies. We next headed back to the 'shwa for some celebratory gift giving and more cake eating :)

The remainder of the weekend was spent hanging w/ the fam in the mornings over breakfast, showing dEb around town during the afternoon, and either hanging out w/ Duff and Rich and friends or just lounging in the evenings.

It's been a really great weekend, and I had a super duper fun time, but has it ever been tiring! All I can say at this point is that I'm exhausted. I'm taking tonight to relax and recuperate. The last episodes of Pioneer Quest are on tonight, so I'm planning to just sit back and zone out for a while.

Oh yeah, still more good news on the job hunt: I managed to set up that interview w/ that director I mentioned in my previous entry . . .

Just got back last night from an interview in Ottawa that I believe went very well. I also have a pseudo- phone-interview scheduled for this week, and am in the process of setting up a meeting with a director at yet another company -- things are definately picking up on the job front!

This Thursday marks my convocation, and dEb will be making her way to the 'shwa for that! Should be an interesting and fun time!
