Drug periphenalia found in LeBreton Flats dig. Lots more great links at this MeFi post, including this one featuring paintings of the old neighborhood there. As you may or may not know, I live very close to this area, and as such have taken quite an interest in it, and the current development of the land. I've just been a tad lazy on the research front ;)

It's Halloween. I'm excited. dEb and I have upped the ante on last year's costumes. We debuted our new costumes at Babylon's Dark Carnival last night. It was pretty dead -- ha ha -- so we left early; however, we'll be returning tonight for their Ragga Halloween. It should prove interesting, as I'm also in a dialog w/ them regarding hanging my prints there -- I thought it was done deal, but there seems to be some issues. Hopefully I'll get the scoop tonight..

What type of blogger are you? Personality types included. I don't think it's very comprehensive, though.

A cool site about not watching TV. It seems true, you really have to stop watching televison to realize how stupid it is. Amusing Onion article about the same.

Went to see Ken Lum's work at the CMCP on Saturday, and we just missed a tour of the works by Ken himself. Nuts! (We didn't actually know about the tour, so I guess it would have been an unexpected bonus had we been a tad earlier.) Lum's work was great: you should check it out if you're in the Ottawa area.

This picture made me laugh. An article accompanied it, but it wasn't as funny as the pic.

Weekend

Weekend was cool. Saw a play called Proof (local link). It was about the daughter of a crazy mathematician, who, after her father's death, reveals a complex mathematical proof that she developed while taking care of him. However, the burden of proof is on her, as everyone -- her father's colleagues and her sister -- think it was her father's work. The profile of the father was strangely akin to John Nash, too.

Had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner, and hung out w/ the usual crew.

Amon Tobin et al.

Saw Amon Tobin, P-Love, and Prefuse 73 the other night at Babylon. P-Love is a great dj who played a captivating opening set, A. Tobin was perusing his tunes via Final Scratch, and Prefuse 73 played some phunky phat beats from a pair of samplers and mixer. This touring trio makes for a GREAT show, which you should definately check out if they swing through your town. They were in Toronto last night, so I guess this plug comes a little late for some of you . . . sorry 'bout that.

Ha! It's sort of creul, since it was a joke, but the responses that landed for this fake metalchick seeking metalhead ad. are pretty amusing . . . in a sad, desperate kinda way.

More than you ever wanted to know about the future of toilets in Japan.

Little cats w/ hats playing instruments are just SO cute! This what the internet's all about, imo.

New Stuff

W/o further ado, I present to you, something that is new: Prints by me. I've been working on printing and framing some digital pics I worked on last summer. More will be coming as I explore commercial printing and framing/mounting options. Enjoy!

Also, I finally have my robot pages up. Some of the external links aren't working, but I shall fix that tonight. Enjoy!

Linkage

The A-Team Resource Page, oh yeah.

Big Bird takes on the IRA.

More Lego: The Brick Apple (thanks, Jenn).

The Prior-Art-O-Matic. Fun!
Prior-Art-O-Matic is an oven that has been featured in Star Trek! It is monogrammed (up to three letters) and spins about its axis.

Weekend

Went down to the 'shwa for the weekend. Not bad. Got a lot of work done . . . I'll have something special for everyone to look at in the next few days . . .

I saw XXX. It was better than I thought. That is, for an action movie, it's pretty good. I spent the first half of the movie in disbelief, as it was so over-the-top-unbelievable in terms of stunts and plot. However, once you accept that, it's time to sit back and enjoy this dumbed-down urban-Bond flick.

Linkage

Interesting Shift article on how news and entertainment is getting farked (groan, I know).

For those who like rubber ducks.

More cool Lego creations. Things used to be so much simpler before computers got involved! Viva technology!?

I had a strange awakening around four in the morning. All my machines starting making noise: my answering machine woke me up, it was clicking and rewinding the tape. I thought perhaps someone had called and my ringer was off, leaving only the the machine to mark the call, but my greeting didn't play as would be the case in that situation. Why would my machine just click and rewind? And what's the green glow coming from the other room? I crept out of bed and into the other room to find my stereo on, in demo mode. After checking that my door was indeed locked and no one was toying w/ me, I realized the power had cycled on and off, thus triggering my machines into their respective power-up routines. What I didn't realize before crawling back into bed is that my alarm was thus reset. As a result, I arrived at work an hour late. But that's better than being visited by aliens, right?

dAn and Duff came up for the weekend and it was a very good time. dEb had a little housewarming party, and it was splendid fun. Also checked out MTL and really dug that.

Saw Modulations, a documentary about electronic music. I didn't like it too much. The footage was interesting, but none of the interviewees were identified (except by tiny credits at the end of the movie) so it was like reading an essay with quotes and endnotes w/o any numbers! So, you had to know all the people in the industry/scene to recognize them, but if that were the case, it probably wouldn't be anything new to hear what they had to say. The film gets props for its breadth, but lacks in context.
