Trekkin' outta town for a few days. No exciting edge-o-the-seat content until next week sometime.

Always fresh!?

I was saddened to hear this weekend that Tim Horton's now delivers its donuts FROZEN to the stores from a central warehouse!

Pertinent links here and here.

Well, the second link says that the dough is delivered frozen, which now makes donuts available on demand. Hmmm, my experience lately w/ donut selection hasn't been very good; and I can't remember the last time I got a Timmy's muffin that didn't suck.

Talk about irony.

Passportio

So I'm going to California in a few days for dEb's grandmother's 90th birthday! It should be a good time. However, there's international turmoil in the house. So I got myself a passport. I picked it up today . . . inadvertently wearin' the exact same outfit I had on in the passport photo I submitted w/ the application two weeks ago.

I guess I'll have to travel in this outfit, now: blue/white/yellow plaid shirt; light blue t-shirt; beige pants, white socks; blue cardigan.

. . . I guess I'm not always fresh, either ;)

Last night I bought a Kit-Kat Klock; been wanting one for a while, and just couldn't resist. I did my part for the economy, that's for sure.

. . . and what gives w/ 'shaw and awk?'

Is it just me, or is the CNN coverage just propoganda? I say this b/c for the first time today I checked out some CNN articles on the war, and it sounded like everything is going according to plan; whereas mixed coverage from sources like google news indicate a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

This is just a little too much: dEb and I have been emailing each other rampantly this afternoon as we suck in the media hype from the internet, trying to get some grasp for what's happening in Iraq. From what I understand, Baghdad is being flattened! This is Get Your War On in real life, fellas!

I can blog no more, I feel overwhelmed by all this info and must retreat for the weekend. I can partake no more in this slingin' and dinging of info.

A good weekend thus past. House parties on Friday and Saturday evenings; spun some tunes at the latter, it was a space theme, so my bleepy techno actually fit in.

It was a super spring day on Sunday, so dEb and I went for a stroll in and around Hull.

Yesterday's word of the day was:

unilateral (adj.)

Performed or undertaken by only one side: unilateral disarmament.

Today's word of the day is:

wanton (adj.)

Unrestrainedly excessive: wanton extravagance; wanton depletion of oil reserves.

Anticipation would be a good contender, too.

I've been thinking it would be quite appropriate to have a war night and play some Risk:
Risk is a game of world domination, where the object is to conquer the world. To win, you must attack and defend . . . It's a game of strategy as you battle to win by launching daring attacks, defending your territory, and moving across continents with your cunning plan!

Sounds fun, eh!

Maybe we can even get G.I. Joe Killaz to play!

Went snowboarding last night . . . at a real ski hill. Wow, certainly a different beast than the "big" hill near dEb's place. It was pretty fun, but a lot faster; it forced me to be more agressive though. Can't say I didn't get a little frustrated at times, and had to spend some time snowplowing :( Embarassingly enough, my worst fall was a tumble taken while de-lifting.

Word of the day

diplomacy (n.)

The art or practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and agreements.

Link(s)

Bush Sr. councils Bush Jr. against unilateral action against Iraq. Evidence that Gulf War II isn't just a continued crusade???

Art update

Images have been added to the DAC page, and you can see pics from opening night here.

Word of the day

preemptive (adj.)

Relating to or constituting a military strike made so as to gain the advantage when an enemy strike is believed to be imminent: a preemptive nuclear attack.

Now this is what I call design.

Something to worry about?

A fun weekend! It was nice to not have to paint ;) Did a little boarding, saw The New Deal on Saturday night -- great show -- and lounged around on Sunday. Watched FUBAR on video; funny w/ an unexpected twist.

Forgot to mention I saw Micheal Snow's *Corpus Callosum a few weeks ago. A strange and entertaining ninety some minutes. (Additional 'stills' here.)

The opening last night went really well! Quite a good turnout of friends and regular patrons. So far reactions to my work have been pretty good. Took a couple pics and may very well post them up in the next day or two.

Fresh snow from the past few days made for a great night at TBH (the big hill); successfully landed my first jump :) Deb stuck some big grabs as well!

Hung my show at Shanghai. Tonight's the big night: the opening! Getting everything ready was a lot more work than I imagined . . . but that's always the case when there's a deadline involved. Will be updating the site w/ some pics in the next few days.

Interesting article about why dropped toast always lands butter-side down.
