What did I do this weekend? It was raining so I painted and watched movies. A lot of other people around here watched movies, too.

I also went to see Wax Mannequin, who's shows I enjoy very much.

So I've been hearing lots about Buffy this and American Idol that. Are there any other exciting things on TV I should know about before I miss them? Has Survivor XVII started yet? (Speaking of which, I think a Survivor Antartica would be interesting.) Isn't there a hockey tournament going on as well?

Saw that new Matrix movie last night. Wow. Lots o' crazy stunts. Fight scenes, a little long sometimes. Plot, don't ask me. Haven't seen all of the orginal movie, yet, so I guess I was missing some of the context. Should you see it? I'd say yeah, if only fer the visuals.

ebay not always for the faint of heart.

This one rings true as well -- minus the cell phone part -- as I remember time and time again back in high school where people would ask, "so where's the singing?"

Last meals on TX death row. Note the disclaimer: The final meal requested may not reflect the actual final meal served. Ouch. Talk about morbid: can you guess what someone who ordered tea and cookies as his last meal did? We really are in the [too much] information age . . .

I love this guy!

Thorough donut reviews.

It's funny cuz it's true.

Wow! Would I ever love to build one of these!

Another step closer for Big Brother? TV set-top boxes that monitor viewing habits. Scary stuff:
"Let's take an example of launching a new brand of corn flakes," Burke says. "What I can do now is do an explosive campaign. I can yell, 'Corn flakes! Corn flakes!' I can launch a blimp and light fireworks. That's what TV advertising is today. But if I knew about you, I wouldn't even really need a launch. I could say here's a family, and I could identify that type. I can ask, What's this guy's attitude toward breakfast? And I can say, I want to change this guy's attitude towards breakfast. So I'll run this ad for a couple months -- I'll see how that works. They could show you special TV shows, they could send you special advertisements just for your type. The key is, they know you -- and over time they work on changing you into one of their customers" . . . "We are crossing a threshold we've never crossed before," he continues, "in that we're allowing people to watch what we do in our spare time, in our homes. The whole idea of a man's home being his kingdom is enshrined in English and American law. Policemen are ingrained with the idea that the outside belongs to them but the home is off limits. And now, suddenly, we're crossing that line."

Can't believe it's May! The winter was long, but these last few months have just flown by. Go figure.

It's sunny out today. It was sunny out on the weekend, too. So I went outside and enjoyed the sun. Today I'm at work and will not be able to enjoy the sun, lest for occassional peaks out the window. I guess that's why they don't call Monday Sunday.

Went to Zibibbo's lounge last night. Pretty fun -- Wyatt (from Invis. Cinema) was playin' some funky tunes, and Juan Carlos was doing some live painting. The space itself is small and cozy, almost like you're hangin' in someone's [nice] basement or appartment.

Oh Wally, a man after my own heart . . .

I know it's an ad, but I think this pic is pretty cool.

Interesting quote from this article:
Murakami: Only those artists who have an ability in marketing can survive in the art world. Damien Hirst is a good example. Through his art, you can see the process of how an artist can survive in the art world. First of all, distinctively situate his/her position in art history. Second, articulate what the beauty of his/her art is. Next, sexuality. Then, death. Present what he/she finds in death. If an artist aptly rotates this cycle, he/she can survive. Damien Hirst has been repeating the cycle of birth, death, love, sex and beauty.
