Just hangin' out.

I can relate.

This just blew me away: when a picture frame is seen in the background of a television scene wiich contains an indecipherable image, a snapshot is taken of the television screen. The indecipherable image is then enlarged photographically, and put in a new, larger frame.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words; well, sometimes the titles are, too.

There's a "garage sale" downstairs at work this morning. Funny how garage is only a letter away from garbage . . .

A new twist on this:

Missed the skateboard gathering, as it was raining, but did manage to check out a couple art openings -- let's just say modern art continues to dumbfound me. The Lego costumes seem good to go for another beating at trick or treating. The career fair was more fun than expected, and while in MTL I ate at Zyng, which I hope brings a franchiase to Ottawa.

Forgot to mention: last night I shuffled through the fallen, crunchy leaves in the park near Zibibbo. So much fun :)

This weekend will be busy, the Canadian Slalom Skateboarding Gathering is happening here around town, and there's a couple art openings. As well, we need to retouch the Lego costumes which we're bringin' out again this Halloween since last year didn't go exactly as planned.

But in the meantime, I'm off to Montreal to represent Canada's Intellectual Property Office at the McGill career fair.

French Club was fun last night. We went to see the french version of Mystic River. The movie was pretty much dialog-based, so it was hard to follow. A conversation w/ the bilingual members of the group revealed it to be a pretty stupid movie, imo. Went to Zibibbo afterwards, as has become customary after the french meetings -- always an interesting / enlightening time . . . Art these days, I tell ya . . .

Maybe Clango has a point (animated version here).

Checked out The New Deal on Friday at Ottawa's new concert venue, the Capital City Music Hall, formerly Liquor Dome and RJ's Boom Boom Saloon. The Music Hall is severly lacking in seating, as in NONE! The feets got quite sore after two LONG sets by the ever-enduring trio. It was a good show, but I was a little too uncomfy after a while to enjoy it as much as I should have. I find w/ The New Deal that all you can do is stare and marvel at their synchrosity (not a word, whatever) as they belt out the tunes. Good stuff. Checked out some nature on the weekend, too.

Even artifically intelligent dj's need feedback.

Where were we? Oh yeah, last Wednesday. As I said, the Kid Koala / Lederhosen Lucil show was great. Thursday night was spent bakin' pies for Thanksgiving (I keep wanting to write Xgiving, you know, like Xmas). Headed down to the 'shwa for a quiet weekend. Except Saturday night, it wasn't that quiet, it was littered w/ heavy tom foolery alongside my ole pals Dan and Duff. Dale and Jenn were in the house, too; it was great to finally see them after such a long hiatus.

Okay, today's Diesel Sweeties features Cobra Commander! An all time high!

Saw Kid Koala's Short Attention Span Theatre show on Wednesday: wow, what a show! Quite a set up w/ three sets of turntables, two additional individual turntables on the stagefront, a slide show, and hilarious videos on a big screen. There's also a bingo game, and my friend won some CDs/books!

Weekend was good! Went to a cheezy motel party in Vanier w/ some local artsies from G101 and SAW to hang w/ some balloon artists from MTL. Fun. Saturday was spent recovering, Saturnight was spent at Tasha's playing games that involved silly questions and silly answers. Sunday brought Steph Wellman's opening at Glouster Gallery, and chasing the ByTowne for a viewing of American Splendor (great flic!). On Monday after work, dEb and I went to Gatineau park to a sky high perch where we watched Ottawa turn from a slab of buildings into a matrix of shimmering lights; it was also a near-full moon which made for a fun walk through the woods.

Some Halloween inspiration.

Yes, Komatsu still makes presses! And other stuff, too.

Funny stuff by Seth Scriver. Man, I love modern art!

Another favourite haunt of mine, Shanghai, has a new website!

Plastikman

A new Plastikman album arrives later in October, and a single was realeased on 09/29. Haven't picked it up yet, but listening to the tunes at Plastikman.com reminds me that I already heard a preview during Richie's set at Mutek (MTL) this spring. Neat/weird/interesting stuff . . .

Preview the album, and watch an interesting interview here.
