Humbug!

It's Christmas vacation time for yours truly, so my entries and email responses will be sporatic! All the best to you and yours during these joyous times.

This article about a car designed at Volvo for women, by women, only serves to make women drivers seem incapable of parking and ignorant of their cars' inner workings -- read the "features wanted by women" section halfway through the article. Way to perpetuate stereotypes!

My diet has been preoccupied w/ junk food lately.

Another thing I found thoroughly interesting about McD's at Walmart is that they had this machine that automatically filled up the fry baskets w/ fresh, frozen fires, ready for the vat. They really do make it so even monkey's could work there! Now, that's not to diss anyone who works at McD's, but more an observation on how much interest McD's has in skilling its workforce.

Can you believe this:

It's from a "smiley" website. Sure looks like LEGO mini-figs to me, out on a mission in the spider hole, oh yeah, LEGO saves the day, hooray! Cuz now that "we" have Saddam, I'm sure there'll be peace in the middle east! Just in time for Christmas and Chanukah, too! And also just in time for upcoming US elections! Man, the world is great!

Went xma$ $hopping at Walmart last night. To round out the experience, I ate at the in-store McDonald's. I was quite impressed to find that mickdick now offers white meat McNuggets! What's next, real beef burgers?! Ha ha . . . So I didn't try the new McNuggets -- now I'm afaid of what was in the old ones, since they, you know, already looked like white meat -- but instead went w/ a double cheese burger sans cheese. You get a good idea for the general decline of society and culture when in Ronald's hood. I think people sippin' coloured sugar water through striped straws and pluckin' fries from cardboard containers -- then throwing all the packaging away -- is the common denominator, the class breaker, if you will. Hey man, I was there, I'm no better.

I feel crushed by time: the holidays approach and I have tonnes to do . . . but who doesn't?

Watched a lot of things this weekend. I watched dEb bake 100 or so cookies; I also confirmed that they tasted good. I watched The Matrix, my first time seeing it in its entirety; I liked it, but found the whole love-bringing-Neo-back-to-life thing a bit of a stretch. Maybe I missed something? Watched the Animation Show, and loved it; see it in your awesome city if you can! Also checked out a local studio open house, featuring Kenji's cool stuff, among many others. An unexpected bonus: chilly, but dry weather allowed me to get out on the longboard one last time before the snow hit :)

Kodak has announced that they're discontinuing their slide projectors in the summer of 2004 -- does this mean I can finally start applying digitally to all the art call out there!?

It is snowy here, and thereby not fridgid :)

Finally, I know, I am a real artist! At least, according to the test at this site. Take the test, the questions are far more interesting than all those other internet tests.

. . . and here's an interesting place to share ideas.

Went xma$ $shopping again last night: much better than my previous outing, very efficient, not too crazy on the crowd tip, though I'm still not really in the spirit of the season, despite my decorations.

Speaking of holiday spirit, the other day I saw some people walking around w/ the festive Tim Horton's cups, and I felt all excited. Yesterday at Timmy's my beverage was served in one of said such cups, and today it just makes me sad b/c I think it's the same design as last year. I think I liked the one from 1999 the best -- at least that's the time I have the fondest memories of said cups.

God damned bugs! They'll creep up on yah . . .

Remember you used to get "notes" from your friends in school? I wonder if kids today get "notes," or if they just get emails and text messages? How boring that would be, dontcha think?

Yesterday I went xma$ $hopping for the first time this year. Not funny!

I also went to Chapters and read magazines. First I looked at the new Adbusters, which has a hole through the whole thing. The magazine told me how bad the world is, and how much corporate propaganda there is; yet the magazine was all slick while made to look like the original content was collaged together in DIY stylee -- it was heated anti-propaganda. Who's a boy to believe?

I then looked at some skateboard magazines and felt much happier. And I sipped a chai latte all the while, too.

The world's a mess -- SO WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT!?

Here's an idea, maybe: a scary tale of the repercussions of burning ants w/ a magnifying glass; ironically presented in Flash (you might have to hit reload to get everything going).

Also, not your expected professional hazards for a dj.

Great weekend! dEb's party was a blast! Sold a couple pieces at the Russell show and 101 Frames; exclusively to other artists, oddly enough. Picked up a couple pieces for myself, too, and worked on some new pieces. I'm an art machine!

Just had a humongo pot luck lunch here at work. Mmmmm . . . every kind of food you could image; well, almost. It was good. Now I'm good . . .

Anxiously anticipating the party tonight at Shanghai and dEb's place. Saturday and Sunday see us at the Russel Art & Gift Show, which I've posted repeatedly of in the past; I'm gonna do some live art to spice things up a bit. Saturday night is Gallery 101's silent auction and party, so that means this weekend is the time to get your art on!

If you have a fast connection, and 14 minutes to spare after the download, watch this kids' show -- it's worth it!

Fun weekend: showed art out in Russel, and worked on some new pieces (one of which sold while it was still wet). The ITEM show/party at SAW was very well attended and there was some great shopping -- to paraphrase the organisers, it was a mad kmART experience! Spun some records there, too, and met some other fun dj's. That's right, life is fun!
