Interesting quote from this discussion:
Re. producing work, it has to be a synthesis of idea and feeling that takes place within me and connects with/forms an image, an impulse that is strong enough to make me bother to spend the time creating it. Sometimes if might be an image that is the starting point. I suspect if it were analysed more thoroughly it would be an interweaving of idea, feeling and image overlapping each other and feeding each other in turn until something cohered. Then whilst actually painting it other things happen which were not anticipated beforehand, because the painting has its own demands to make if it is to 'work'.

Don't you hate it when you have a GREAT cup of coffee, that's so good that you just have to have another, then that second cup just isn't as good as the first!?

Regardless, I'm really diggin' the colourful styles of IRS1's street work.

Analysis has revealed that there is an undue proliferation of first-class mail being sent
each month in the nature of bills, statements and similar such documents. Analysis has
also revealed that this produces an unnecessary expense for postage and processing,
besides the costs involved in purchasing the paper and envelopes to begin with

A pretty good weekend for art! Sold six paintings and four prints between the Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser and Art in the Park. Next such event will probably be Ladyfest in September.

Also did some low-riding, and now today I have a sore butt as a result.

Do you ever feel like a speck of dust in this big universe? Like you don't contribute anything meaningful to your community, city, country, or world?

Just curious . . .

Plastikman live

Saw Plastikman live @ Mutek this past weekend. Richie's dj performance at Mutek last year rocked my socks, so I was highly anticipating his return to Mutek w/ a live show. Although the music and sound rocked, I have to say -- and I hate to say it -- that overall I was disappointed w/ the show. I didn't feel it lived up to the hype: the hype from past Plastikman shows that I'd heard about, and all the hype surrounding the prep for this particular show (months of work, a custom mixer/controller, tonnes of people working on visuals). Where the show lacked the most was the visuals, which were only present for a small portion of the time. Perhaps something wasn't working, I dunno . . . Richie didn't look too comfy up there, either, like he had too much to do. Deb put it best when she likened him to a waiter w/ too many tables to serve. This was billed as an exclusive one-off show, but if I ever get a chance to see it again, after it's been tightened up, I'd definately go as I just wasn't feeling it this time around . . .

Kraftwerk live proves a tough act to follow . . .

Art

Been workin' furiously on art lately, makin' up for lost time this spring, I guess. Also workin' in prep for the Glebe Art in the Park event this weekend in Ottawa. Details on the paintings page.

Don't you hate those dreams where you're convinced you have a test or assignment in a class that you totally forgot about?

Then you realize you're not even in school anymore . . .
