Do you ever give the "why" of something so much thought that it just seems pointless?

The internet is a weird thing. A while back I set up a profile on Myspace.com at the encouragement of some friends. No biggie, it's a nice way to link people back to my art pages. Now, just today, I get a message from one of the artists who made some of the techno records in my crate; he found me by the music I've listed under my preferences. Mind you, he's promoting a new book, but I'm gonna try and pick his brain a bit . . .

I just realized that Monday to Friday were made for people like us.

Saw Speed Freak at SAW Gallery this weekend. It was a program of film/video work relating to speed (trains, fast edits, etc.). I really liked a lot of the work. My primary criticism is that some of the works ran a little long, and didn't hold your attention after a while -- ironic for a speed-based program ;) A lot of the videos exploited one particular/unique effect, so after a while one got bored watching that effect. I have nothing against doing such a thing, since I think a lot of art validly exploits quirks or new features of technology just for the sake of it, but the art ;) of making such work is also to know when to wrap it up nicely; quit while you're ahead, end it so the audience wants more.

Also went to see Kenny Glasgow at Helsinki, and I have to admit we we'ren't really feelin' it.

If you go back and read a lot of my entries over the last few weeks, it seems a lot of events I've gone to recently haven't met my expectations. Time to lower my expectations, b/c all the entries relating to events where I had no idea what to expect seemed to turn out awesome. That's right, awesome!!!

The Russell Art Show was a little slow this weekend . . . highlight: a visit from John Lacharity.

101 Frames @ Gallery 101 was packed, as usual, though my patience didn't seem to hold up so well. It was a good time, but not so much as last year, though that might just be groggy ole me. I did, however, manage to snag a piece by Adrian Gollner.

Watched the president's motorcade last night from my office which is just down the road from the museum where the state dinner went down. Traffic honked impatiently as roads were closed, a trio of helicopters flew around the area, along w/ a few little planes, and protesters made noise. It was almost like a movie or something, but not quite as exciting. I can only wonder what GWB thought of the splendors of Hull as he passed through.

This morning it's snowing, and although I did not for one minute enjoy tromping through it on my way to the bus, I am enjoying watching it fall in greater quantity and fury from my office window as the morning progresses.

There, that should settle my literary quota for a few weeks.
