Andrew O'Malley and Deborah Pasternak have been sharing a studio space for the last year, but they don't work together. Nor do their styles immediately cooperate: they're a contrast of clean and messy, planned and spontaneous. Yet influences creep, and one borrows from the other . . .
Andrew and Deborah have finally agreed to exhibit together. Each artist will curate a selection of the other's work, and the results will be shown at The Russell Restaurant.
Andrew borrows from the pop culture of yesteryear; retro clipart and textbook illustrations provide inspiration, while collage, paint, and ink serve as means to deliver new interpretations thereof.
Deborah, through her use of color, enjoys capturing unique perspectives of reality. Be it by camera or brush, she exploits the medium to present unusual forms and patterns which go beyond the traditional mixed-media realm.
