  • String Theory is difficult to document, but easy to experience.

String Theory ushers the lighting effects of the 70's into the present with the use of modern lighting technologies.

"Neon" wires react to sound and user input. Custom filters and control circuitry are used to create modular lighting systems that are portable and wearable, and suitable for dynamic, site-specific installations, both temporary or permanent.

Pictured below are detail shots of a two-channel String Theory system:

Below are installation views of the two-channel String Theory system installed around a dj booth, where one channel responds to the bass sounds and the other channel reacts to the treble.

Grids, spirals, shapes and patterns can quickly be created with the neon wire, and coupled to the appropriate controller for various ambient lighting modes. The crux of the String Theory system is the (spontaneous) creation of dynamic lighting systems that react and respond to their environment; the system is sculptural and scaleable.

Successfull applications of String Theory thus far include: sound responsive costumes, dynamic club lighting, and decorative lighting fixtures.

Send a message to discuss your ideas; the system is customized by commission and can be battery or AC powered.
